Pokemon GO: Cross-curricular Xanadu or Time Wasting Classroom Distraction LIMITED
Limited Capacity seats available

We expect our students to learn and try new things every time they enter the classroom. but what happens when we put ourselves in their place?  This summer, I challenged myself to learn how to play PokemonGO, a VR Game. It gave me a better understanding of how my students might feel when I give them new materials or tools to learn something new.

I will share what I learned from exploring PokeStops, evolving Pidgeys, and gaining XP to level up in Pokemon GO and how this Virtual Reality Game can be used to generate interest in geography, local history, math, creative writing, and technology while promoting critical thinking, digital citizenship, social skills, and problem solving.

I will also share resources for incorporating PokemonGo THEMES accross the curriculum using other APPS and tech tools.  Many of the ideas presented can be adapted for use with other games.
